Farmall C Cultivator Hold-up Hooks

My front cultivator lift rods have hooks u-bolted to them that can be to hooked on the cultivator frame to hold the cultivators up when not in use. You disconnect the lift rod from the touch control unit and fold it forward and fasten the hook to the front cultivator frame brace rod. Are the hooks original equipment or something that has been fabricated? I sometimes will hook-up one side to cultivate single rows or hook-up both sides and connect the plows to the touch control unit. Guess I need to post some photos, if I have confused everyone.

Those hook up rods were factory. I have a Farmall 230 here with a complete cultivator and those rods are on that cultivator. I have also made some in the past but they never looked as good as those from the factory. To my knowledge their use was for 'storing' the cultivator when off of the tractor. Without them the cultivator frame would collapse and be most difficult to mount the next time. Don't ask how I know. My younger brother and I put a cultivator on and off of the family Super C many times. That was quite a challenge for some 10 year old boys.

You guys are probably correct, the purpose for the hook was to keep your front cultivator unit from collapsing when removed. They are so heavy, that I don't usually remove mine as one unit, though. I split the upper and lower half. Anyway, hooking them up with them on the tractor frees up your touch control unit for other rear-mounted implements and you don't have to completely remove the front cultivators. Top photo - hook on right is the one that came with the cultivators. I made the heavier duty one on the left. Middle photo - Hook mounted on cultivator lift rod. Bottom Photo - Cultivators hooked in up position.
