Question for White planter users

I have been looking for a newer 4 row planter for a number of years now. A four row works best for my farm and acreage size. I can pull it with my older smaller tractor and don't have to tie up my bigger tractor used for tillage. Almost all for sale are 20+ years old and well worn. My question for the White users is can I put 9000 series row units on a 6100 planter? Would they bolt right on without modifications? From what I've seen the frames look the same. I don't know about the transmission or blower requirements. What do 9000 row units cost each and are they an improvement over the 6100 units that they would pay for themselves over a number of years. Anybody else done this? I'm thinking I could have a brand new 4 row. Budget is under $10,000

Buy you a 4 row 7000 Deere--Get a Shoup catalog-rebuild it and you will have less than $5000 and have a planter that will be as accurate at any new one.---Tee

I agree with Big Tee. I am not a JD man, but their 7000 or 7200 planters are very good machines. Buy a planter that does not look like it was abused, then take your meters to someone who knows how to run a meter tester. Or, contact Precision Planting or Shoups and order new meters. Those meters will last you for as long as you plant corn. JD planter parts are always available, with those old White planters you might have a problem finding parts.

I have tested over 5000 meters with my meter machine, and have saved a lot of farmers a lot of money and got them the good corn stands they want. Ask around for who might have a test machine...quite possibly the answer you are looking for.

I went through two 5100 Whites trying to get them to plant accurate and trying to convince myself that I like them. Last year bought a Kinze and it plants accurate every time with
any size seed. No constant fiddling with air pressure. Just go out and plant.
