I found some discussion in the archieves about the Berger Rotary Snow Blower. I thought I would add my experience in how to make this great implement work.
I have the exact same blower. I rebuilt the pillar blocks and u-joints. Mine was originally painted bright yellow, it has all the original plates from Champion. I sanded it down and used rust converter as an under coat. I painted it with really good paint, 4 coats on hot summer days. I had a problem with the shear bolt breaking and I solved this by using a chain as a top link, this has eliminated the shear bolt problem. Mine works real well on snow that is frozen, wet snow just plugs it up. I just get up early when the snow is frozen. I put Pledge Furniture polish on the Vs it to keep slick, this keeps the snow from sticking. I use a Massey 165 Tractor with a live PTO, I run it at 2000 rpm and can easily blow 2 1/2ft. of snow. The trick is to get the snow when it is frozen and keep the wings slick with Pledge. I use the Pledge about 3 times a winter.
