The original subject was "NH 469 Haybine Gearbox Disassembly".

Hey, I'm trying to replace the seals on our 469 haybine, and I'm having trouble
getting the gearbox and mounting plate off. The problem is that I can't get the
locking collar off to let the shaft slide out. I have a picture attached of the
locking collar in the mounting plate. If you have any good tips on how to take it off,
it would be greatly appreciated.

If you're talking about the one up under the tin work I've ended up cutting them and the bearing off with a torch most of the time.

Picture doesn't appeAr to have attached.

Just redid a 479 earlier this summer. If you post pics of which shaft you are talking about it may jog my memory. I believe we disassembled without cutting anything.

I've heard of people using that, but the leak is pretty bad, when running, it drips about a drop every 5 seconds or less.

I think I have the picture on here now. But the locking collar is A in the picture and it seems to be stuck on shaft that comes from the gearbox. I wanted to the gearbox off the machine so I could work on it in the heat but it seems like its going to be too hard to do that. So my next question is, how can I get the gear to slide off the shaft so i can pull the gearbox off and leave the shaft in place?

I know what you mean, i read in another post that someone else just destroyed the bearing to take it off, but i really don't want to have to replace something else on this machine, but thanks for the input.
