Ford 542 Square Baler Wagon Hitch

I have a Ford 542 square baler that I would like to hook a hay wagon behind. The hitch kit produced by Ford/NH is NLA, I haven't been able to find the kit at other vendors (Messick's has it listed but not actually in stock), and I've struck out going to local junk yards. I looked at my neighbor's balers (a JD and a NH) that both have hitch kits. They are hooked up very differently, and I don't think I can use them as a template.

Has anyone fabricated their own hitch kit for a 542/532 and have pictures or plans they could share? Does anyone have one of these kits they would be willing to sell or know of someone selling this kit?

Who needs a 'kit'?Just find a long chunk of 2" round or square tubeing, secure it to the axle under the machine. Let it extend behind the baler a bit so the wagon will follow.Place it about a foot or so fron the bae chamber. Secure it to the side of the bale chamber.enlist the help of a buddy who has some experience with welding and fabricateing.

As best as I remember, the wagon hitch under our Ford 530 baler was centered under the bale chamber. It had two cross pieces that went up to the sides of the chamber where it bolted on at four points. It had a telescoping section that extended back to the wagon hitch. We had an extra tray that we used if we had a wagon hitched up.

I've built my own on a few balers we have had. All I needed to do so was either a picture or to look at how they fit on the baler we wanted a hitch on. So maybe some one will post a picture so that way if your good at metal fab work you could make your own

The hitch on our 532 was made from a piece of 4 inch channel running from the axle and under the round brace pipe. Using u bolts to attach. Reinforce channel under the round brace, it may have had a slight bend downward there. Has been a long time since that baler went down the round. I still have the entire knitter assembly I kept when we scrapped the parts baler.

Thanks everyone. Hooking directly to the axle is what I was missing. I spent the afternoon in the scrap pile and think I've found everything I need to make this work.
