Love Tractor Disc

I own a Disc, made by "Love Tractor Inc." I"m interested on any information I can find out on it. I have the serial number but do not know where to locate information on care, restoration, maintenance. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

I believe the 3pt disc I have is of that MFR, from what others have said here from photos, is the frame pipe/tube, and does the gangs of discs have oil soaked wooden bearings with grease fittings ?

I searched for that mfr on ebay and a few sales literature auctions came up. Mine has no identifying marks, it's been around since our ford tractor dealership days, when I thought it was new, it looked it back then, looks like this minus one disc on one gang, I have replaced it but have yet to do the bearings, works great behind my 850 ford:

Yes, from the photos I have the same disc. I do have a serial number plate but still not sure where to go to use it.

I think this manufacturer may be long since defunct, however over the last 10 years I have seen a few photos of the same or similar disc on here,, really not much to them, exception being the hardwood oil soaked bearings, which I assume should be able to be turned out on a wood lathe, I'd like to measure things up on mine and have some made up. I've heard on this forum that greasing this kind of bearing may cause abrasive materials to stick and contaminate the lube on same, drastically shortening their service life, though I used to grease mine, it sees limited use, the rest of the parts on the disc gang shaft seem to be similar to other designs and or seemingly no problem to find, fabricate etc. though when I replaced the one outer disc, that one of the hired help tore off, I did notice that the square opening at the center of the replacement disc was a little bigger, good to know if you have to replace one, I made it work, I think I packed out the opening with steel spacers and tightened it down, worked fine. That is about all I know about these unless someone else can add to it, mine does not seem to have any data tag on it whatsoever, where is your tag located on yours ?

The only time you might not want to grease those bearings is if you are working pure sand. Any normal ground grease them. And that is why they are already lubed, the oil soaking when you get them.

I dug through some books and some internet sources and this is what I came up with: JB Love in Eau Claire Michigan manufactured a line of orchard tractors with a high road speed (50 mph) until the mid-50s, along with orchard sprayers and other implements. In 1939, Ford-Ferguson did not have a lift disk in the line yet and Love designed one for Ford dealers to sell. After WWII when Ferguson and Dearborn lift disks came out, Mr. Love's business dropped off drastically. After 1948, this disk might have been sold by Sears for a while under the David-Bradley name, but I can't confirm that.

I have a 1936-1937 sears catalog I bought at a florida flywheelers and it has tractor implements sold under the name David Bradely. If you reply send it to my [email protected] Thanks Butch----Ps I do have a restored Love tractor from about 1943.
