Spreading dry manure

I have an JD h manure spreader and a
international 200 manure spreader,
both ground driven. The manure out
here is dry with little to no hay in
it. Spread alot of alpaca manure which
is like deer manure little pellets.
While spreading it tends to just fall
off between the floor and beaters and
leaves piles instead of spreading.
What can I do to make it spread
better?

Spreading goat manure I found worked just as well to simply dump it in small piles with the loader and drag around with the York rake

That is one of the things that box spreaders tend to do. Many used to have a pan under the beater that would catch stuff falling off the apron, but those are long gone by now due to rust. I have no idea if either of yours would have had those or not.

That's just the way it is....as suggested, dump in little piles and drag it smooth with a harrow or similar. Or make up a pan underneath the beaters.

As was said, they used to sell a pan that was used for chicken litter, etc that was dry like yours. You might be able to fab one up. It has to run from the rear of the box and just miss kissing the widespread.

Friend bought a New Idea spreader about 6 years ago with the litter pan.

One could fab up a set of fans under the chains in the back to spread like chicken litter spreaders have.

Search litter spreaders for pics and ideas.

The local equipment trader buys the old drop fertilizer spreaders that he finds in good shape. They are in demand for spreading chicken litter.
