I was trying to put my mower on my super A, but it just wasn't long enough?

I have a slight bend in the item circled in the picture. Is it supposed to be like that? It looks pretty uniformed and about 3/8-1/2" thick steel.

I don't believe it is a cub. Maybe an inch or two, that is why I think that piece should not be bent.

It's not a Cub mower. The Cub mower has a different size pulley on the rear and no cross bracing on the front mount. I believe that the bend in the front mount is supposed to be there. Can you set it under the tractor and take a picture of it?

Get me some of the part numbers off of it, and tell what piece the part numbers are on and I will
check them against my cub 22 mower.

Yes I can, will get it all out after I get some turkey in my belly.

I believe it should be straight, not bent like yours. I have one for my Super A up home. Will be there on Thanksgiving and will check it and can
also get you an overall measurement. Still looking for a good flywheel/shaft pulley for mine, PO dropped the end and broke a piece out of the
pulley.

Definitely is bent. If I'm going to heat it up to brand it back any suggestions? How do I get the flywheel shaft cover off to do it? Or can I just heat it up assembled? Any seals to worry about?

good morning cdd, I would take it apart and heat and straighten the bent pieces using a torch and 20 ton press. if you try and heat and straighten on the tractor, it will be very hard to get them straight again. if you don't have a press or torch setup maybe take them to your nearest welding or machine shop.

cdd a couple of more thoughts on the heating and straightening, when you take the arms off (that go up to the tranny housing) take the bent plate by itself and heat and straighten in your press, leave the plate in your press with the pressure on it until it cools to room temp before you release the press. the 2 arms will then have to be rebent to fit up to the big bolt on the top of the tranny housing, using the same method. that way you don't have to worry about lighting up that nice tractor or struggling to straighten pieces that are moving around on you.

Thanks. I have the torch but no press. I hope the arms aren't bent. Will try to get it all apart and straightened

no problem cdd, you can make a homemade press, if you have a 10 or 20 ton hydraulic jack, 2 pieces of thick flat plate at least as big as the bent piece, one of your bigger tractors or something that weighs at least 5 to 10 ton's, put one plate on something level, ie concrete pad,lay bent piece on top have it under your tractor, have the other plate and jack ready, heat the bent plate cherry red with the torch along the bend, working your way along the bend and getting the red section as wide as you can. drop the other thick plate on top, hyd jack on that, jack it down flattening the bent piece, walk away and leave it for a couple of hours or longer until it's cool to the touch.

Any idea how to get the flywheel shaft off and the pulley on the end of it off? Looks like some sort of wedge holding that pulley on.

Its been 2 years since I took the pulley off. Still have not found a replacement. What I seem to remember is it had a keyway maybe tapered and set screws that tightened on the
shaft. A friend maybe stopping by there in the next couple days and I will have he look, If not I wont be up home till Christmas.

(quoted from post at 16:36:12 11/27/17) Also check for a roll pin. The more I think about it I kinda of remember driving a pin out.

Not sure what a roll pin is, but when I look at the end(facing the rear of tractor) of the pulley there looks like a wedge/key that is driven in there to hold it. I don't see a way to push it out from the other side. Will get a picture posted soon.

See pics. Scrape around the area circled, may find an indent for a pin or set screw. Note hole circled on pulley

that is a keyway cdd and like timm said there is a spring pin/roll pin that holds the pulley to the shaft, first find and drive out the pin, then GENTLY tap the pulley off the shaft, the purpose of the keyway is to hold the pulley from turning on the shaft. I would use a brass drift punch and medium size ballpean hammer working your way all the way around the pulley.

Thanks to all will give it a gentle try
