Can anybody identify this disk? What make and model? Your help appreciated!

I kind of thought it was a John Deere or a Oliver. I picked this up for doing some CREP maintenance. Might be looking for a couple scrapers for the rear gangs. Thanks

Popular model in the 60's but did not like them because you cannot adjust angle of gangs, had to have cutting at full cut all the time even if you did not want the angle for finnish work and felt that because of that they would be pulling harder than one you could adjust gang angle on like our McCormic No. 37

(quoted from post at 19:32:29 11/10/17) Do you guys think a JD 2840 will handle this disk? It's a 10 footer.

Are you sure it's a 10' as it appears larger than 10' to me. How many disks per axle does it have? AW parts catalog shows no 10' size offered. 9' had 7 disk per shaft & 11' had 8.

Thanks Tx Jim! You are correct. This AW is 11' wide. I took a quick measurement when I looked at it on the front gangs disk to disk and it was wider than 10'. It does have 8 disks per gang. Thanks for the info!

Do any of you guys have any advice in replacing the disks? The 2 back gangs I think I'll replace as a winter project. Getting the nuts off of the shafts looks like it might be a job. Should I use pipe wrench's with some heat and lots of muscle? Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks

Thanks! I'll be sure to spray lot's of "Breakaway" on the project. Thanks for the input! At least I know I'm headed in the right direction. Thanks again!

kerfil I use a product called fluid film for spraying old nuts and bolts, it sure seems to penetrate and creep into the threads better than anything I used before. also use it to spray down chains, notters and bale chamber on my baler, spray down sickle bars and sections on the mower in the fall to keep the rust from starting, it's the best rust buster I've seen and will keep your coated for winter storage. john

Fluid Film. That's something I'm not familiar with. I will for sure look into it. I know I will need the best penetrating oil I can get. Thank you!

In industry we used Kroil brand comes in a half pint can or aerosol. www lists the company. Pricy but works.

I buy my discs from ASC. Shipping is pricy but cost of the discs offsets that very well. I have used India and Brazilian, thick and thin, and find no difference in the performance as a function of supplier; obviously the thin blades cut better but for you rock folks the thicker would be necessary.
