Picked up this drill along with a tractor and some other stuff. Price was right and after going through it and greasing everything up it appears to be in working order.

Any idea how to find out the Model on this? The panel on the inside reads "For models B, FB, LL, PD, and EE, so I suppose it is one of those, just not sure which.

Going to try and use it this week, and since I am asking questions, the only thing that appears to be missing are the drag chains. Is it okay to use it without them or do I need to rig something?

Those drag chains were debatable if the helped or not,you going to seed rye, that's a pretty forgiving crop, the main thing is to seed into moisture.

I always used the drag chains on the openers that followed in the tractor tracks. Seemed to help cover the seed. I think I still have some hanging in the old shed.

Can always run a drag / harrow after planting to cover the seed up if you see it after planting without the drag chains.

We pulled a cultipacker with a spike tooth harrow behind. Good seed coverage and smooth enough do pluging problems with a sickle bar mower following.
