good evening all I went for a walk through my local case ih dealers used equipment yard today and found a 10 ft. mm disc, it was there on consignment it looks in good shape, good tires, blades, needs some work, the former owner welded flat iron straps to the frame I'm assuming to hold weights? robbed the quick couplers off the hydraulic lines? why would he do that? :? maybe those where the only one's he had  will be going in with the gooseneck and dually on wed. or fri. to pick it up.

Supprise he just took the ends off the hoses and left the cylinder on. usually the cylinder id not left on any machinery.

that's what has me puzzeled Leroy, why just take the quick couplers and leave the ram and hoses?? blown cylinder maybe? oh well we will find out when I get her home cleaned up and start going through it. cylinders here aren't that expensive. maybe that was the only set of quick couplers he has

that's the plan ray, get her home cleaned up go through everything, bearings etc. sand down and paint! will look good hooked up to the m5 can't wait to get her out in the field and see how it do's. was looking at bandit farmers video of his mm disc and he was saying it's the best finishing disc he has, just one pass for opening up his ground killing weeds and leaves no ridges or mess.

Couplers are not standard....pretty good chance that any new buyer will use different ones, especially with a machine that is likely to be used with an older tractor.

you are 100% correct Leroy! got it loaded and hauled home, unloaded and hooked up to the m5, looks like it belongs there! got started on it. a couple of surprises awaited! it has one 14" wheel and tire and one 15" wheel and tire :? now which one is the right one?? the cylinder is leaking and both hydraulic hoses are rotten hence the reason he took the couplers and left the hoses and cylinder. the blade scrapers bent and some rubbing on the blade, some twisted 180, both back gangs wouldn't turn, found the main legs with bearings jammed tight to the blades, straightened them to sit 90 degrees to the main frame and they roll nice and free. reset the back gang scrapers to about a 1/4" clearance to the blades rolling without hitting the blades. the screw jack up front seized, soaked it down with fluidfilm. will post some more pics.

stony plain alberta, now you won't believe this but after I got the disc loaded and chained down an older farmer drove into the used equipment yard and drove over to the 1480, turns out he traded it in for a new 1680, the new 1680 after 3 shutdowns on him is in the case shop across the street getting it's blown engine repaced! he was there to get his 1480 back and give case their new 1680 back and was muttering about where they could stick their 1680! the 3 years the 1480 never once gave him any trouble. turns out he has a mm m5 diesel that do's all his grain auger work!

logentdc that is apparently a Krause design for mm and the very first mm discs where Krause discs with mm decals. mm then went on to produce that design in Hopkins with some changes, but it was basically a Krause disc.
