No Privacy is a Fact

Back in 2012 I was having an operator problem (as it turned out) with my JD 375 round baler. Tx. Jim got involved and in that thread between what I said and what another poster asked, the part numbers for the gate lifting cylinders were listed along with the seal kits.

Today I was looking for seal kits for my JD 375 baler so I posted it on the Google search engine. Sure nuff about the second or third listing was our conversations on the subject whereby I got the part number off Jim's list, went to ebay and got the kits for $36 ea. as I recall, free shipping.

Add that to the Google maps and it's apparent.....we have no privacy any more.....oh and the drones. and hot air balloons that are favorites over subdivisions, with pools, in the summer, late at night..........

I have been a member here just a short time texas but I have noticed the same on google, pictures I and most of the members here have posted on yt.,mm, and other farm and tractor forums are up on google about 24 to 48 hours later, if you type in mm m5 baling hay you will see pics I posted of my m5 baling!! along with the entire thread comments and replys from any members that responded. the way I look at it texas is every keystroke you make, any place you go out on the internet is public knowledge for the whole world to see :( you are 100% correct no privacy is a fact!! I guess we just govern ourselves accordingly and carry on, the info and resources and help on this and other forums are just to valuable to not use and access, on this forum and others there is thousands of years of experience and knowledge here, when you add up the number of members just on yt here and then multiply that with a rough average of say 40 years experience each working with equipment and farming, it probably tops over 50 thousand years worth!!

I haven't seen any of my threads, but I have found pictures of one of my tractors in a google image search.

This website is partly about recording and archiving what many believe to be valuable information for future use. You old gents wont be around forever and the younger folk might need the information and experiences to get the ol' reliable equipment that you are still using running again. I try to post credible and informational stuff that will help the future and I am certainly fine with that information showing up on google searches because that is where I have found out some very helpful tractor knowledge as well (especially from YTMAG).

The internet can be a wonderful thing if respected and used correctly. I have found parts for NLA oddball stuff and information that my grandfather and father could have only dreamed of finding before the internet.

Typically it is faster to find information on yesterdays tractor via a google search instead of trying to search through the archives.

Try typing in whatever it is you are looking for followed by the words yesterday's tractor, much faster to find the relevant information you are looking for.

Another tip when searching for something on the internet, on ebay, craigslist, kijiji etc.

Many people can not spell to save there lives and others do not check the spelling of what they post.

On any of the above try typing in for example; carburetor and see what results you get, then try searching again using;
carbrator
carbarator
carberator
carb
carbureter

The possibilities are endless yet 9 out of 10 times you will find results you would not have found otherwise.

Years ago I purchased an auto dimming welding helmet off of EBay for next to nothing that the seller had mistakenly listed under jewelry.
The only reason I found it was I searched view sellers other items and out of a dozen or so of the same helmets he had listed this one was had no bids on it and was about to end.

thank you determined, that's a great tip that I will be using from now on. it seem's I learn something new with every trip to google, yt, mm, and this info is exactly what I meant on the wealth of knowledge and experience on this and other forums. thanks again and you have a great day! john

The fact that discussions on this site come up at the tops of google searches also demonstrates the fact that these subjects simply aren't discussed very often.

It is likely that your discussion about seals on a JD337 baler is probably one the few times, if not the only time, that specific subject has been discussed on all of the Internet, despite how vast the Internet is.

Really you should not expect any measure of privacy around anything you post on a PUBLIC forum like this, though.

Your last statement is very true. There is nothing private at all about these YT forums or much of
anything else posted on the internet. It is all out in the open for anyone to see and the computer
servers it is kept on have very long memories that are easily searched by browsers. If a person is
seeking privacy they simply shouldn't post anything on public forums.

Just try typing your handle from here or even your name and see what you get,, like said it is Great of used for good

The baler is a 5x4....aka 5x6 with 2 ft. of diameter loped off and a resulting half the weight...for smaller tractors and such. Popular is the 4
5, 5.5, 6 of which a pair will sit on an OTR vehicle and not be over the (old) 96 inch width limit which I think has been raised to 102 or
105....which brings up another point.....trying to pull one down the road when it's been grooved by the 96 inch duals and hold it steady.

I think, just like any search engine, you put in a series of words and it looks everywhere in it's data bank for each of those words. As such
any and all things posted pop up,.

No doubt our productivity improvement regardless of what we are doing is a result of the www. When I was working, I used the Thomas Register, a set of books (like the walls of books in attorney's offices) to find suppliers of different products I needed. Time consuming and not always accurate as the books were dated.

Today you know what you get. Just mindboggling and I love it!
