JD 375. I ran the gate to full open and turned the tractor off. Measured tip of gate to ground. Came back about an hour later and it had dropped 4". No fluid leaks visible anywhere. Packing (seal kits) on order. Agree?

Either gate cylinder seals or tractor control valve is leaking internally. Raise gate then unplug hoses from tractor for a "baler cylinder only test".

Will be the gate packing then. Tractor is 2007 I bought new with 1000 (MOSTLY TLC hours).....a few questionable activities here and there
which cost dearly, like tearing my ball bearings up on my front axle ($650) when I was it a big hurry, had the bucket full of gravel for
stability and was going over freshly turned hard, black clay clods too fast.

As usual, thanks.

Figured they were getting soft, when I closed the gate I couldn't get that pressure spike that I am supposed to have and rolls were topping
out at about 1700#.....loose.

Hyd tension valve could have a weak relief valve causing spongy(loose) bales.

Just because your tractor has only 1000(TLC) hrs on it is no guarantee that tractor valve isn't at fault but a $15 gauge can determine tractor valve is bad.

The reason I didn't pull the hose is because of what I said but mainly with pressure on it, when I attempted to reconnect it it wouldn't
connect until I released the pressure on it and that would mean jacking up the gate or breaking open the fitting on the hose.

I have a gauge on it and matter of fact bought a new one, 0-3000 psi, oil filled, to ensure that my low pressure was real and not a bad
gauge reading.

In your picture which number is the valve to which you refer?

Thanks again,
Mark
