Braddy shredder

Does anyone have a suggestion of what a 12 foot Brady stock shredder would be worth? There is one on a sale this
sat. It has the cylinder and such. I have not seen it person, only by pictures.

A 12 foot would do 4 wide rows...not so common anymore. It will do 5 30 inch rows, but doesn"t match tire spacing, so some stalks will be run down instead of being chopped well. They typically go for either side of a thousand bucks here. I bought a 15 foot Brady some years ago, private party, for around $2200. Works well running 6-30 rows, same as planter and combine. I think stalk chopper prices are weak now, with so many chopping corn heads around. Brady uses the D-ring for the flails....the rings tend to open when hitting rocks, so the knife flies away. I weld the D-ring shut after slipping the knives in...then they don"t open.

They bring 300 to 500 around here. I don't know why, but there is no market. I had one for a while, and it was a money pit.

Don't know why anybody would not use a shreader. From 1959 untill stoped farming used a shreader an all acres of corn. Still have mine. But do not use a bush hog type, they leave way too many NON shreaded stalks. Learned that back in 59 when folks rented one for first year and then bought a flail type and had both in same field at same time.

Looks like the model 840 BRADY shredder (Koehring Farm Division)that we have. (7 foot model)(maybe from about 1975) Something is always breaking, but it is quite old, and has had a rough life. Can still get some parts from the local AGCO dealer.
