3 pt disc bearings

This is all new to me. I bought a 7' 3 pt disc. The bearings were tight when I bought it. I used it for a couple hours and now all bearings are very sloppy, although the discs seem to be rotating fine. There were a couple wide turns I made at the beginning and forgot to raise it. But these were pretty long wide turns. Could doing this a couple times blow all the bearings out like that? The ground was a little harder than I would have liked. Could that blow the bearings out? I assume not but can the bearings be adjusted?
 
What kind of bearings are we talking about? Ball bearings or the greasable white iron bearings?
 
What model of disk, something old or something new, sealed ball bearings or old white metal needs grease every couple of hours sleeve type
bearings?

A single or double gang disk?

Sounds to me like the greasable type either with the whit iron bearings or the type with wood boxings. Either way the old grease-dirt got worked out to normal condition and just needing new grease every 5 hours at the most. Now if the wood boxings them the wood might have gave up and went to pieces.
 
I will look this over a little better this evening. I believe it is an old disc and I cannot find a name badge on it. Seems to be pretty well built. There is a ton of grease where I would expect the bearings to be. I didn't physically see any bearings but I didn't look real hard or pull anything apart. I just wiggled the shaft the discs are on and they are very sloppy.
 
Unless you find the wood boxings that I dought as they were mostly on the old drag disks, not 3 point it is normal and way it came from factory.
 
Looks like it is an old Dearborn disc. I guess I should have done my research as it seems parts might be hard to come by. Pictures are below. Can you tell me what kind of bearings it has?

Dearborn would be the white iron as they never used the wood ones. And unless one is broken in pieces then forget about replacing them as if you could find new they would be as loose.
 
Those are the 'old' white iron bearings.They are "loose" by narure,especially after years of use. Grease every couple of hrs or so.The reason they were 'tight' when you started is the old hard dried up grease that was in there.If you want,take one apart to see how they are.Easy,just remove the two bolts that hold the halfs together.Nothing to 'blow up' or come apart. use and enjoy.

Good deal. I was getting worried. So as long as I keep it greased it should continue to work as intended?
 
The important bit here is these type bearings are metal rubbing on metal type. Frequent greasing is important, about every time you use it....
they rely upon a layer of grease to ride on.
