I upgraded haybines, from a Hesston PT-7, pretty well worn out to a NH 474. Serial # 532XXX, can anybody give an approximate year of build on this. Probably change drive chain before using just to be safe.

You should be very happy with your upgrade. Dad had two 990 IH machines that he replaced with 474's and we really liked them. We thought the seven ft windrows dried better than the nines and liked that you did not have to drive on the hay when mowing with a small tractor. Keep a good check on the wobble gear box as the 489-492-474's had some problems there. Dad had one come apart and the dealer wanted to sell him a new complete one but for less than half he replaced the failed parts. There should be plenty of parts as they are lots of 489-492's around with bad rolls. Tom
