Question on a Case 8430. I found this thread and thought your Heston experience might give me some guidance... I recentlly bought a 8430. I've baled roughly 35 bales with it. I'm using a 1066. The belts won't turn when I turn PTO on. Slack adjuster knob is all the way in. I spoke with local Case dealer. No help. I looked at my bale tensioner (valve assembly) and it has 4 brass fittings on the bottom. Dealer says it should only have 2. Valve looks like installed at factory. Any guidance? I tried initially on an AC 180 had same result. Come to find out 180 port pressure is 1800PSI. Manual for baler says it needs 2200. So I hooked to 1066 then after 35 bales this happened. Thanks in advance.

That is the same baler as a Hesston 540. Every time that you close the tailgate, you have to hold the remote lever until the hydraulic system bypasses slightly. That is what tensions the belts. Make sure you are doing this and post back with results.

The hydraulic plumbing on the baler itself also has a bypass built in and I cannot remember the pressure where it bypasses. I think around 2000. I worked on one for a man last year. His belts were going too slack after dumping the roll. I had to make a new restrictor orifice for the baler plumbing.
