Hi all, I would like to build a LPG seed bed burner/sterilizer , I haven't found out too much on the web about making burners,or regulators. planning on building a 3 row machine. I know they made "flame cultivators" and they were used in some parts . I'm in SW Iowa, never seen any here. Anyone know where one is sitting or where they were used, a chicken house sterilizer would be somewhat the same I suppose.

Thanks

I built one. It's not a row cultivator, but flames a 5 foot wide band. I built it for seed bed preparation and get control of purslane.
Flame engineering is a good source for flamers.
Mine is for a large garden area. My tank does the job and can be taken to town to refill. If you are using it for more then than half an acre, you'll want a bigger tank or an onsite refill source.
As with most weed control strategies, flaming is most effective before weeds have established a root system. As with my purslane, at the stage of 1" or less and only a couple of leaves. Once the plant begins to branch out, the root system is developing.

That's what I had in mind, my propane dealer has some 100lb tanks with a wet tube in them he said I could try. I like the forklift tank idea tho.
Thanks for the info,

Neighbor that was the very first in area to do any no till also had one of the flame weeders for a couple of years. Did not use it long and don't know what ever happened to it. He also QUIT NO TILL after a few years and was back to the moldboard plow.
