MF Disc Harrow ID ??????

Picked up this - what I'm pretty sure is a Massey Ferguson disc harrow today.

Any idea the model number? The ID plate has been painted over.

It's got a couple disc blades broken, overall in good shape, but looks like it's been discing rock yard.

Wanted an 8 ft disc, but for the price, $150, I figured this would get the job done.

What do you think of these type MF discs - good, bad ugly.

Again - anyone know the Model number off hand?

Thanks!
Bill

I would try some acetone gently rub it on may take a few applications but it should start to resolve the old paint and keep you iD plate in tack,

Most new implements they just slap a ID sticker on them that in time peals off and then who knows what you have,

I still use one my Dad bought back in the early '60s, it still works great, grease the **** out of it. Down side is the "hubs" that hold the axles are no longer available from anyone. I 'think' MF/Agco still retains the patent on them :-(
Not a bad price though, hope you can get some use out of it.

You have the angle adjustment on it so that makes it the best 3 point ever made. I would not own one without the angle adjustment.

If you had an accident while transporting that, how long would the cords hold their load in place....?

What kind of accident?

Got any idea of the disc model number - which was the original question.

It is a Massey Ferguson No. 25 Tandem Disc Harrow. I have the same one. They do a nice job for a seedbed. You did very well on the price, around here that would bring $500 easy, even with broken disc pans. Keep those bearings greased, that is the only issue with these, you can't get those anymore. Mine has one bearing from Agrisupply that the previouse owner changed out. I have never been able to get the axle apart to change out the disc pans. Wanted to go through it and put new pans on, but it works well as is.

On the comment about it on the trailer. I hauled mine 130 miles on about the same trailer and just used some ratchet straps. In a wreck it's likely to go flying regardless, chains and binders would be better. The trailer I used had rails like yours, and it sure was not coming off the trailer unless you flipped it over.

Anything from a quick slam on the brakes to a highway rollover. The driver is always responsible for securing the load.
