I am looking at purchase of a Case 170 side delivery rake for horse-drawn use.
However, I only want to buy IF it can also ted like an old IH or New Ideas rake.
Anyone know FOR SURE?
Thanks,

I didn't think the old IHC rakes would ted. I know the ni would. Dad had a NI and I know it would ted.

Only the 3 bar open gear McCormick rakes will ted. The 3 & 4 bar enclosed gear rakes will not ted as they do not have the reverce gear in them.

We had two F170 rakes in New Zealand and no they do not ted. All you can do is alter the pitch of the tines and lift or lower each end of the "basket" independently.(Different levers) These options give a degree of fluffing or rolling the windrow. We also had an International rake of the same style and vintage (Late 1940s) and it had the reverse rotation for tedding but tended to almost self-destruct if not handled VERY carefully. For us the problem was completely solved when the European rotary rakes like PZ Haybob and Kuhn arrived on the market.
