I've never messed with those model deeres, but I have a claas 46rc. Those balers are tough as nails,simple, and bale anything. A belt baler will bale a tighter bale with less hp. Claas parts support is very good as long as you have a dealer around.
 
They're all good balers. The Deere will make prettier bales but whether or not they're actually heavier is debatable in my mind. To my way of thinking, if you're baling silage, get the Claas, without question. If you're baling hay and need super pretty bales, get the Deere. If you just want a long lasting baler with little maintenance... get the Claas. Other than bearings and chain there's little on them to wear out and nothing to burn.
