JD 16-A chopper

Paddles have to be close to the band, leave a dime and pick up a nickle for clearance. Also rpm has to be up to 540 input.

Spout vertical extension and condition of the spout may influence distance. Did it just start not blowing?

If crop is dry or not very heavy crop, it may not blow to the back of a wagon. What has changed?

Very dry blew good on our 10 JD chopper (first model) but if the hay was damp with dew it would not blow to back of wagon, think 12', If wet from rain would not even get it to top of spout to even reach wagon. Had ran too many rocks in before we got it and blower housing was dented up from them so could not get the close setting on the paddles. Running smaller amount of material like a half cut will let blower work better without overloading it.

(quoted from post at 22:10:50 07/31/17) Why won't my JD 16-A chopper blow it to the back of the wagon

The paddles need to be set according to the crop that is being chopped, review the manual. It makes a difference as I have learned.

How many paddles does your machine have? 3 or 6????
Having 6 paddles does not always help if what your chopping is light, such as fine grasses. 3 paddles will do better on light forge such as grasses. 6 paddles will do better on heavy forge like Sudan grass (sorghum)

If the crop is wet from a rain you will need to run more crop through it faster to "throw" it to the rear of the wagon.
