Reckon what I ought to ask for this hay tedder, it's in good operating order other than it needs 2 tires. I used to lease some of my property to a guy to cut hay, he went belly up about 5 years ago and left it on my land, I've since had 2 other people to lease the land that's asked about it and I've told them it's not for sale and thought the guy that owned it would come back to get it but it's been 5 years now and I went and loaded it up about 3 weeks ago, lubed it up, everything turns but 2 of the 3 tires won't hold air, what's it worth?

I'd say given it's completely missing one rotor, it's in no more than 75% operating order.

Worth a few hundred anyways.

Where do you see it completely missing a
rotor? The Tedder is whole, nothing is
missing that I'm aware of, the drive
shaft is laying across the tongue, maybe
you thought at a quick glance it
appeared to be incomplete, I figure it's
worth at least $500, going to put on
Craigslist , just want to get rid of it
and at same time make somebody a deal..

Is there such thing as a 3 rotor Tedder? I have an old Kuhn which is 4 rotors. Yours looks like 1 is missing but I can't tell from the photo exactly. I bought mine at a consignment auction for $1,000. I checked it over pretty well but It had a broken shaft inside the grease filled gearbox, which had been re-welded but broke immediately when actually tedding again. So, you need to decide if you are selling it as is or working condition. There is about a $500 difference.

I have never seen or heard of a three rotor either, except for when somebody broke one and removed the broken tube and went without the fourth rotor. That one could be used as a three star, of course it would pull a little crooked but you would get used to it. From what decent ones go for I would think around $500 for that one.

Could be that the inside basket on the right went bad and the guy took it out and moved the outer one in. But the rotation would be wrong. I wonder how it worked?

Before you try to sell it make sure the person that went belly up actually owned it and it is not owned by somebody else that is looking for it and considers it to have been stollen. Years ago Uncle had somebody come to make hay and they dissapered leaving several items of machinery including an AC tractor. Never could find the person that left things. It was finally agreed on with the law it was abanded and he could claim it. The guy mowed the hay and left it to get ruined. Dad and I eventually baled the hay to get it off the field.

Likely would fetch the most $ if you removed the oddball 3rd rotor and sold it as a 2 rotor tedder then it is 100% complete. Tedders of that style are typically either 2, 4, and sometimes 6 rotor (aka basket).

Nothing has been altered on this tedder,
I seen the guy use it twice on my land
about 6 years ago. The Sheriff said I
could sell it or scrap it, I lubed it up
and everything spins, it's still
functional, good gear box, one side
flips up for highway travel. Can't make
out the brand name, always thought it
was made by New Holland

Walton WT series tedder build by Galfre.

Yes it has been altered, there is no such thing as a three basket tedder, Walton lists a two basket and a four basket like every other tedder mfg.

Most likely someone broke the right side pivot off and simply bolted the outer unit on where the inner basket was originally mounted.
It's still worth a few hundred to someone that does small acreage hay, would have to watch when transporting, with all of the weight on one side it would probably be easy to turn over.

(quoted from post at 11:45:27 07/23/17) Nothing has been altered on this tedder,

Okay, look at that picture. See that stud sticking out to the front on the single basket side? You have the same thing on the other 2 basket side, it's for the brace for the outside (missing) basket. Someone removed 1 basket. Doesn't mean it won't work, just that you and the buyer should be aware.

It is altered... looks like he did a clean job of it tho; moved the outer basket in and probably flipped the gears around lol If it works it's probably still worth 500 or more to someone who needs it.
