NH 451 Mower Crank Pin

Bearing went in link to crank on mower. Scored the crank pin pretty bad. Has anyone replaced the crank pin on a 451 mower? How do you remove the pin?

From looking at the parts books looks like both the plates are going to have to come off and the connecting rod comes off,I've looked at my 456 some and wondered just how it would all
come apart if I needed to replace the bearings.I didn't realize they were tapered bearings.

The entire pivot drive (wobble assembly) will need to be disassembled, but it's not that big of a job.
It would be a good time to check all of the tapered bearings and races while it's apart, it would also be a good time to check the crankshaft bearings, there's no grease fitting to add grease to the crank bearings, whatever they're packed with is all they ever get.
I rebuild mine several years ago, replaced the crank pin and several bearing races due to pitting, most of the bearing's where reusable.
That took almost all of the knocking sound out of it in heavy hay.

It doesn't help you any- I have a new old stock connecting rod assembly for one of them. I can get you the part number if you think it's something you might use.

I guess what I am asking is how is the crank pin
removed (or attached) from the rest of the crank? Is it a press fit?

Doing the same thing today. Talked to Messicks Service Dept and they say they are pressed in. Hope it helps.

press out?

Once it broke loose it went pretty easy. It let go with the usual pop when it started to move.
