willy,
I have had a ferguson disc plow for years and they are similar.
I say the key to a disc plow it the rear guide blade, it must be in perfect to near perfect condition for the disc plow to tract properly.
reason most old disc plows when to the fence row, the rear guide disc blade worn out and the plow would no longer tract.
I would replace the rear disc blade with at least a 18 blade I used a coulter blade and with a torch blew out the attachment holes to match the ones on the old disc blade.
it worked great, if you can not buy a new blade.
but that rear guide blade must be adjusted to tract the plow almost like the alignment on a truck front end,
attached are some pictures of the plows my friend and I have:
the red one is a MF 64 bent tube double disc plow, the gray one is a Ferguson bullet plow (older plow).
as was said go to the ford 8N site and you should find your manual
also I use a chain stabilizer on the right side of my plow, when plowing it is loose, but beware, if you ever hit something like a rock, root and the plow jumps out of the ground, when it come back down, the disc blades hit first and the plow can swing to the left fast, before the rear disc guide wheel can dig in and stop the movement.
you can break a check chain or worst yet, arm get over into the tire.
hope this never happens but I install the chain stabilizer just in case.
I enjoy plowing with the old disc plows, they back up from almost nothing, they will try to turn it under or roll over it and keep going.
