Just got a New Holland haybine and have trouble with the pickup reel not turning. When it
is all the way down to cut. Talked to a dealer and replaced the old belt for the pickup
reel. It worked great for about 2-3 arcers. Then the chain on the right side for the
rollers broke and bent the idler bracket on the belt we just replaced.
We have fixing the chain but it just breaks and bens that bracket as soon as you start to
cut hay.
I have a manual but can't find anything to help with the proublem.
Thanks for any help Jeff

I would turn the reel by hand and see if there's a catch that it's binding on. Also make sure it's not digging into the cycle when down on the ground. You should be able to turn it by hand in the normal direction even with the belt on. Check chain sprocket alignment too.

check the tension on that small chain that runs off of the top roller, if it is to loose it will bind and break. There is a slot you can see from underneath the machine that adjust that chain, if it is stuck wich many are you can drill and put a bolt in the frame with a roller on it mine has been that way for many yrs. just used it today. Come back if you cant fix. mnoliver guy

Thanks for the info.
The chain maybe a little loose I will try to get it tighter.
I can move the rolls freely by hand.
But I want to check it all again. Thanks Jeff
