O.K. I know this post is many years after several others on this subject, but I have been working on restoring one of these. I took the rear axles out (only one bolt holding them in) and the front assemblies to a local machine shop. The rears were easy as they are made out of standard round stock. The fronts do not fit into a lathe as the axles are cast inside of the pivoting assemble. They had to weld a piece onto the inside to mount onto a lathe. Then they welded onto the axle to build up the worn spot where the bearings rode. Then turned them back down. Unfortunatly, it was expensive! $500 was the total cost when I went back to pick everything up! Wish I had asked how much it was going to cost beforehand! I already took the wheels to be sandblasted and powdercoated, and the rest of the metal to be sandblasted and later painted by myself, so was commited at that point! I originally pait $125 for the running gear at an auction. By the time I get everything done, I will have over $1500 invested, but saved a little bit of history from the scrapyard!

I'll post a picture when it's completed!

The coomplete gear in the photos was taken from another dicussion board. Credit goes to member S2710, as I forgot to take a photo before sending the wheels out for sandblasting and powdercoating.
