looking for part for New Holland crop chopper

We run a vegetable farm in Maine and our chopper blower needs a new splined hub asap. Can't find it anywhere. The hub part is #80052338 and it's gotta be out there somewhere! Any leads on where to look? I've been all over the internet with only dead ends. Thanks ~ Rebecca

I don't know what it looks like but could a machine shop turn out a new one out of steel? Or depending on what the piece is like drill out the bad part and only make a new set of splines?

Fry's Farm equipment in Muncy PA. They have a huge implement salvage yard maybe 50 acres or more piled full. Can't find the phone number right now. Tom

that number shows up on messicks site. here is the page.

fry's number is 570-546-3968.

that part number doesn't show up in Joe's Machinery catalog, but he does aftermarket parts for new holland 717- fp240 choppers. it might be worth a call monday. 717-464-1043 i have gotten a lot of parts for my 900 chopper from him. good quality at about half the price of real new holland.

good luck.

Fry's will be her best bet for used. New Holland still shows it available for approximately 125 dollars which is not terrible in today's world. 33 and 36 flail choppers are ancient so it is lucky that part can be had new. Good model 38 flail choppers are north of 2,000 dollars because of how infrequent they come up for sale. Unless this one is in very poor condition and I have seen ones where the rocks have ruined the machine 125 dollars is fair to keep it running.

Thanks guys, I will try all these places soon. Getting a hold of anyone over the holiday weekend is tough. I will post if I am able to find it anywhere.

After trying Messicks and Yinglings, Fry's came up with it. Thanks so much to everyone for steering us in the right direction. Anyone else out there using a crop chopper? Is there anything in current production for silage chopping that could be used on a a tractor with less than 40hp? Thanks again -

I think that what you are asking about is what I believe is called generically a direct chopper? used 35 -50 years ago to cut and blow the grass direct into forage wagon or truck, with no dry down. I don't know how they kept the chute from plugging.

Yes, that is right. A direct chopper. It is great for making some feed from a neighbor's field that will last a few days when you can't get the cows over there, and without the investment in many implements. I have also had success in stuffing feed into contractor bags and sealing it. It is labor intensive but it keeps well as long as the bags are airtight. I figure a 55 gal bag has about as much feed value as a really nice square bale. Do they make anything like it nowadays?

I was gonna tell you whare ta go, butcha alredy fiigered it out. Fry's strikes agin!!!!
