Looking for a round baler - Spearhead 4x4 ?

I believe he said it was a spearhead brand ? 4 x 4 baler . New belts and a new shaft bearing but the other shaft bearing is now wanting to squeal . $3000 as is .

I do not have to cut hay but I would like to not buy hay . maybe 50 - 100 bales a year and I don't care at this point how quick or pretty it is .

Is Spearhead a brand and are parts expensive .

Sorry all I know at this point is a brief conversation on the phone with the owners uncle .

If it is a crazy bad deal then i will not go over and insult his baler . It may be Ok if I cheek that certian parts are fully functional too .

I am looking to get a low dollar baler and can do a mechanical overhaul if it is a good baling machine . I will be using a Ford 3000 diesel . I am in no hurry to get the job done . I think I want 4 x 5 bales . Anything except square bales I would have to pick up by my self .

Which ones should I avoid ? lean to ?

Sorry , I know this question is vague . Thanks -Ken .

(quoted from post at 05:37:30 06/28/17) Sure it wasn't Sperry Rand? New Holland.

Could be . I have not talked to the owner , just his uncle .

If $3K for a Speery Rand 4 x 4 with one working but squealing bearing is in the "Normal" price range I will go look at it .

Thank You - Ken.

You need to know the exact make and model and what bearing is giving trouble, plus the overall condition to even begin to assign a value or cost of repair. Pictures would help too. How many bales ahs it made?

I cringe when something "just needs" anything. If it was simple, the owner would fix it and ask more.

Make sure your Ford 3000 is heavy enough, weight and horsepower, to handle it. If there is an owners manual, it should list the Hp required to run it.

I have a NH 847 baler that makes about a 4.5 X 4.5 bale and a Ford 3000 wouldn't handle it,I tried baling with the IH 464 and it was just too much for it governor stayed wide open all the time. The Oliver 1550 gas(53HP) runs it
just fine.
