Back to the hay rake teeth NH on IH

So I picked up a few New Holland rake teeth today at Orscheln's But the odd thing is they had 2 different NH teeth. One which is a bit heavier duty as in bigger around and bigger spring area. It say it replaces part #64562. The other one which seem lighter duty say it replaces part #40917. But if you lay them side by side they look the same other then how heavy they are. I hope that can make one or both part numbers work on this IH rake I have and if they do I should have almost all the teeth back in place. i know if I can make them work from now on I am likely to use the heavier duty teeth. So is that what you would do if you where doing this???
Thanks

I just came in form putting them on and the lighter one fit and the heavier duty ones fit. i picked up one light one and 4 heavy ones and they all fit and look like they will work just fine. Guess form now on I'll be putting one the NH teeth that are heavy duty. Or maybe it will have both brand since I have clips now for both so I guess when an IH tooth breaks I'll get an IH tooth to replace it and when a NH tooth breaks it will get the NH tooth till I have to replace some clip that is then it will be all NH. Almost bet this rake has not had this many teeth on it since I have owned it. Only 2 missing teeth as of right now and that will be fixed next time I go to town

I'm running a mix on my #14 IHC right now. There are steel IHC, Rubber IHC and a whole mess of NH. Seems to work fine. The NH tines do seem to stick down a little further, but that seems okay to me. Sitting the 14 next to the 256, you can see the strippers on the IHC (and the JD across the road) are lots closer tot he ground and the ends of the tines than on the NH. We're always catching a hunk of ledge sticking up or running through a low spot and dragging a stripper and bending it. I can't bend them back like I used to with my back, so I have to get one of the boys to do it! I think that's part of why the NH seems to rake so much better- more clearance on the strippers.

The AI aftermarket teeth at least in my area are more expensive than the actual New Holland teeth. Also the AI teeth are a brighter yellow, lighter gauge and are maybe a 1/8 in shorter. Don't remember the length difference with 100% certainty, but they are noticeably shorter when side by side.

Well if you take into account at least in my area to go to a New Holland dealer I would have to drive some 40 miles one way buying teeth for a few cent more each would not save me much is if any thing due to the cost of driving 80 or so mile

Get online and go to Ebay. Find the best deal on tines there. Cheapest I've found in a lot of looking.
