Hello, last year i bought my first baler a 273 from New Holland. I knew it seeded some work but i have to he honest it saved my butt last year since the person that was supposed to bale my hay could not come. This winter i tore i apart, changed bad bearings. I realized i was missing an hay dog (spring, support, pin) so i ordered a used. I installed it only now my problem it the Twine Finger Lever (part #66188) cannot move due to the new hay dog. My thought are that the arm/arms lever at some point broke and that somebody re welded but very badly. Could somebody be kind enough to measure the spacing between the arms of their Finger Lever. My second question is did anybody built a new lever on their own? Due to Canadian $ low value a new lever is over 150$ here, do not know about used market i am just afraid to get a beat up one

thank in advance

by chance is the hay dog spring on the outer side?? If you put a full spring on that dog (upper outer) it wont allow
the twine finger to move.. needs half spring.. not sure your prob just check it out...

Neighbor had same problem after changing pin and spring on his. new spring is wider so pin is longer. just bend the arm till it clears the hay dog and readjust the twine finger. His lever had bent and had to replace it. Just make sure it clears the hay dog pin.
