JD 630 moco height

Ok, am I missing something? I have a JD 630 discbine that I am trying to get the cutting height adjusted up, currently it is cutting around 2 - 2.5". I have the skid shoes in the 3rd hole (as low as it goes) and the turnbuckle turned in as tight has it goes. If I remember correctly from the manual with those settings I should be around 4".
The only thing in the hitch setup that is not what the manual calls for is the drawbar being turned up instead of down. If I turn the drawbar down I am below allowable work height. With the bar turned up everything is right where it needs to be.
I don't mind getting skid shoe extensions if necessary, but I'm just not sure what I'm missing to get the height up without them...

You need the skid shoes in the clear opposite holes. Need them in the 3rd hole, highest hole, on the skid shoe. Ive got a 530 and that's what it says in the manual for the highest cut.

If I remember right the further you screw your turnbuckle in the higher the head goes. So to lower your head you will have to unscrew your turnbuckle to lower your cut height.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have the skid shoes in the highest hole on the shoe and the lowest hole on the mower which is what was causing my confusion on why it was still so low. Went past my JD dealer today and had a few minutes so I stopped in, it seems they have had a few other guys with the same problem so I have the extensions on order... I dunno..
