NH 845 floor chains

I picked up an 845 NH baler that appears to have very little use. The floor chains, unfortunately are badly rusted in a section about a foot long. Rusted so bad that the steel is flaking off. The rest of each chain looks very good, even with some red paint still. Does it seem like a good idea to replace one or two chains, and use the pieces from the ones I take off to repair the rest?

If it was me and the chain are not so bad as to be ready to break I would just oil them up super good run it a bit with out hay then oil again. But for oil I would start with ATF then switch over to some used motor oil and then take it out and bale a few bales and see how it does. I have a fence row NH271 that a few of the chains where real bad so bad a few links would not bend as they should when going over the sprockets and they work just fine now. Baked hay with it 2 or 3 years before the main drive chain broke so I had to replace that one chain
