Ideal Harvester Sickle Mower need manual, pictures

I don't know if anyone looks at these old forums, but if so:
I have a Deering Ideal (not New Ideal) sickle mower with a metal pitman. The pitman has Deering embossed on it, so I believe it is original part. I would like to get manual for this mower., or at least a good photo showing how everything connects to pole and evener. I believe it was a one horse mower, as it is very small, with a short sickle bar.

Deering Bew Ideal is all one name acording to the master dealer parts catalog. Now models
Plain lift 1905-1912
Vertical lift 1805-1912
Giant 1906-1912
"B" 1909-1918
"B" Giant 1909-1918
"B" One-Horse 1910-1922
Two-Horse reverce gear "BD', 1917-1926
And the only place in parts manual does it use the Deering Mew Idea Mowers is the heading at top of page, The list of the models only have New Ideal. For a quick look it looks like it would have been a 4 1/2' cutter bar unless it was a Cuban model then it would have been 3 1/2'. The master parts book is No. 29-HM with no date but includes mowers from 1896 to I am guessing as no ending date but models built up to end of horse production and several tractor models. No complete pictures tho.

Thanks,
This mower has a 4' bar.
I have had several #9's and worked with #7's, bui I never saw anything with an iron pitman. The mower looks to be in good shape, but no wood, so I can't see how the mower evener bracket and draft rod attach to the pole. I can probably figure it out, but finding a photo of this style mower would be hany, as I don't know if I am missing any pieces. The lift mechanism has a chain, which I do not think is original.

Maybe these pictures will help a bit…

A bit more research and I have found:
Part Number F 120 Pitman (steel) 31 1/8" long (not Giant)
fitted to
Ideal Two Horse mower 1893-1900
There were various wooden pitmans, which could be fitted to this mower too.
Also a better picture (and of the correct mower).

Thank you!

This mower seems to be intact, but I was confused because there it has no gag assembly used when lifting the bar.
Your pictures do not show a gag assembly, so I guess it was not a part of these mowers. Perhaps because it is a Plain Lift mower?
My mower has a 4' bar, so I guessed that it is a one horse mower.
I saw online Deering literature that stated one horse mowers were fitted with 3-1/2 foot or 4 foot bars, while 2 horse mowers had bars 4-1/2 foot or longer bars. I have also never seen this type of latch mechanism for holding the bar in vertical position. I am used to the stay rod on the pole, but a one horse mower would not have a place to attach the stay rod.
I am going to fabricate the angle iron frame for shafts, and set this up for one horse. If I can figure out how to put up a photo , I will put one on this website. Any advice is greatly appreciated. I thank you for taking the time and effort to post the pages. It helps a lot.

I have a complete parts list for your mower, which I can copy and send if you need it. I do not have an Operator's Manual, but one may turn up…

I guess I didn't know what a gag lever is.
My mower does have the J145 piece you show, I was calling it a latch, because it latches the bar into the vertical position for traveling. I unlatch it by hand to lower the bar.

My #9 mower has a hinged assembly which attaches between the inner shoe and the foot pedal/hand lever lifting mechanism. I was calling that the gag assembly. This little Deering mower does not have that assembly.

Yes, the gag lever assembly on Number 7 and Nine mowers is completely different from yours. The parts book, which shows all the parts for your mower is No. 24-HM Repairs Catalog for McCormick-Deering Line of Hay Machines, pages 81-103.
