JD 7000 - Correct plate size?

Are there different plates, different plate sizes for soybeans?

I have a JD 7000 planter, plate type. The plate I have says Soybean 2.

I asked my seed dealer what size the soybeans were and he said there are 2550 soybeans per pound.
I don't know if that's the right answer.

Is this the right plate for this soybean? Or what sizes do they come in? How do I know what is the correct plate size?

Lincoln ag products sells JD plates, they have 3 bean plates listed, Bsoy, Bsoy 2 and Bsoy 3x. If you go to their website you will find a PDF on seed sizing that may answer your questions.

Then the Deere cast plates are 2 sizes and are still different than the plastic plates in size. And you can turn the floor plates over to get still a different rate but the floor plates for that have a wide grove in them where the plates for corn have a narrow grove. I always set for pounds per acre acording to the book and planted half again as many seeds as recemonded as with the low rate they would not break through the soil crust to come up.
