Drill vs Seeder

The other day the old man and myself were driving around and I seen what I thought
was a grain drill (horse drawn) He said it was a seeder, what is the difference? Thanks!

In some areas they might be different names for the same thing.

HOWEVER, my Dad had a horse drawn seeder. From a distance they looked the same. From close up the difference was obvious. A drill has drop tubes & disc opener. The seeds drop down & are placed below the surface.
The seeder didn't have the tubes or openers. Had the same metering mechanism as a drill, openings about 6 inches apart. The seeds fell onto a casting just below the hopper, were scattered on top of the ground.
Had to follow with the spike tooth drag to kick some dirt over the seeds. My job was to do the drag thing after school. The Farmall Regular at the blazing speed of 3 or 4 mph could cover in 2 hours what he had spent all day seeding with horses.
Seeder was 10-12 feet wide, no seat, just sat on top of the hopper.
