Ferguson 3 pt rake ..hard to mount

These old Ferguson or Massey Ferguson 3 pt-PTO rakes are very handy for small fields and tight corners.
But they are nearly impossible for one guy to put on alone. Do any of you have a trick, clue, homemade stand or
method to make this any easier?

does your have this support stand?
without that stand I can understand how hard it would be to hook up.

I always spray all my points of connection, lower arm balls and pto shaft coupler with silicone spray, helps an old dude like me to get the implement hooked up some what easier.

I have the #32 MF mower and that is a hard one for me to hook up but over the years I have developed a number of support blocks and cutter bar supports to help me hook it up. but even then sometime if I do not back in just right its a pain.

On heavy 3pt equipment I hold the front up with a front end loader to hitch up to the tractor, hang the piece of equipment on chains and you can move it around a little to make lining
up easier too.

i have the support stand and if i get the one side on i can lift a little and then push it a little. the wheels let me move it one side or the other.

Yes, I have the stand but with the lift pins inside the frame it makes using a sway bar very difficult to install.
It is the most difficult 3 point to hook-up of all my old junky equipment.

I have this rake, and find it pretty easy to hook up. I do remove the my lower right link sway bar so it moves inwards to connect after it's positioned properly. When I back up to get tractor positioned I place a bungee to keep the 2 lower links close together and back into position. After I hook up I raise it a couple inches off the ground and lean in to push rake to right so the sway bar can be re-attached. Takes couple minutes at most. Good luck

I do much as Finn does, never tried the bungie trick however. Mine is a NI 49, and is close coupled to the tractor such that I have trouble squeezing between frame and tractor tire to attach links and pin them. My anti-sway link is on the right main link, and I try to connect that one first. Then the left which can swing several inches. Sometimes I forget to lift the stand post. Not a good idea. Do like the portability of the rake, and ease of use. Especially how it makes wide round corners to follow with the baler. Also very convenient to pick up rake and drive off the field, or do u-turns to double windrows.

The MF #32 mower hooks up the same way, pins on mower face inward, is much harder to hookup,

But the other fellows idea of using the bungle cord to hold the tractor lift arms together is a great idea, just hope I remember that next time I hook up the old mower,

I have extra sway bars, I leave one on the left pin on my MF20 hay rake, and 84" woods mower. I hook up the lower lift arms first, hook up the sway bar to the tractor, then finish the rest of the hook ups.

Are you trying to use sway bars or not? with pins on inside and bars put back end of bar on and hook up lift arms then hook up front end of sway bar after you lift rake off of ground.
