Yesterday I bought a model LR 2 John Deere hay rake. The guy said it's an older one but he didn't have any info on it. I need the dogs and springs out of one of the wheels for it and am wondering if any of you guys would possibly have any of them. Also I have no idea what some of the cranks on it do. It sure as a lot more than the New Holland or International rakes that I've owned do. Any help would sure be appreciated. Keith

I think your rake is a 850 series either model 851 or 858. Although pricey the dogs are still available from JD.

G6711E Pawl - ADD 102.87 USD
112SE Spring - ADD 2.83 USD

As soon as I can get it into the shop, I'll take a pic and get some measurements and let you know. Thanks Keith

I have an 851 I think, it also has LR? on the reel. I thought maybe it stood for left rake as it throws windrow to the left. I could never figure out why they put a number on the reel but no sn on the rake. JD didn't like to put model and sn tages on lots of equipment back then. It would be a good idea to pick up an operator's manual for the 800 series rake. the top cranks level the reel. There is another crank to set how much the teeth tip foreward for different conditions.

TxJim I do believe you are right. After looking at that plate again, there is nothing that says model on it so yep it is some other model of rake and 850 does sound right. Yu have a lot more experience with J.D. than I do, that's the first green thing I have on the place except for an Oliver 88 that I logged with years ago. Thank you for setting me straight. Keith

You're welcome & yes in my former life I spent many hours behind a JD dealers parts counter looking up part numbers for JD & other brand of tractors & equipment
