JD hay rake 660

I just picked up a JD hay rake at auction. I believe its a 670 maybe? Its just like my 660 but a foot wider. The lever on the gear box doesn't do anything and can be pulled right out of the box. The lever has two holes in it where something must have attached to take it out of gear. Anyone have any idea what this looked like or a parts catalog or picture? Many thanks, BW.

The lever goes through the release fork and is held on by 2 spring pins part #34H282 & are 3/16" X 1", fork part #E20239

Sounds as if roll pins(key 18) have come out of lever & fork.

Thanks guys. I tore into it and it looks like I lack the split roll pins 18 and the shift fork 11. Apparently someone has had their fingers in there before and removed those parts. I could just take it out of gear by unhooking the drive shaft but I just ordered the parts to fix it right from JD. $61 so I guess I can live with that. Teeth are another story. $5.41 from mother Dear. $2.25 from what used to be the Massey dealer. I suspect they're both made by A&I.

Just an update. I went to see a guy about some running gears yesterday afternoon and he had a bunch of iron that he was scrapping on a wagon. Well there was a complete gearbox for the rake and he gave it to me. There was also the drives also. The rest of it went in a load earlier. I put the shifter fork in and it works good. Even I get lucky once in a while. I ended up buying four hay racks and three running gears from him.
