JD equal angle hitch

We bought a 1217 moco that did not come with a hitch. I've used it a couple times just mounted directly to the tractor drawbar. Do you suppose this style hitch would work? I think these were primarily for square balers. I can get this style a lot cheaper. From the pictures I've seen it appears this style may be tad shorter that the ones made with the hitch pin welded onto the end. Anyone ever used one on a haybine? Thanks.

I have baled many years with a 347 baler equipped with the equal angle hitch TX Jim has pictured and they are super smooth and quiet. I'd rather play with that than a CV joint that would break my back to lift.

I agree 100%. I think the only reason JD changed from Equal Angle hitch on their rd balers is because customers didn't like having to install either type extensions on tractor drawbar. I rather install the EA extension vs picking up/attaching the high $$$$$$ CV joint plus one can turn an EA hitch implement in a 90° turn with no noise or harm while CV joint should only be turned 80°.

I have yet to find a lubrication type or schedule that will make a cv joint on a JD rd baler last very long

I bought a JD 1209 one time and didn't have one and you had to have one because the connection point on the 1209 was a ring (like the ring connection in the end of a 3 pt lift arm) and you needed the pin to slip it over. So I went to the local antique farm equip dealer and he had one in the shed for 50 bucks. Works great. Making a clean 90 turn was a no brainer.
