I need parts

I know there is the classified section with a wanted part but what I am needing the ones if any that would have what I am needing would not be looking at those adds. I am needing hay rake teeth that are no longer being made for the old steel wheel M Moline rake and the McCormick No. 5 rake. So would any body have one setting in a junk line have one that has teeth that they would sell. Also any Deere or McCormick or New Idea for the old rakes. Either 3 bar or 4 bar, no parallel bar rakes and the way they are designed the teeth for then could not be adapted. I work on these rakes for the Amish. Would also be interested in parts rakes of New Idea for rebuilding within driving distance of Wapakoneta, Ohio. Teeth can be shipped.

I'll try and remember to look and see if I still have any laying around but I think you got all the good ones I had

I have an old horse drawn McCormick rake with 2 steel spoke front wheels and one solid steel rear. It should have teeth on it. Not sure what model it is? I think to change the teeth on this rake you have to slide them off the bar.

Would teeth off of and old David Bradley rake work?

I bought teeth for my JD steel wheel rake from CT Farm % Country. Their Ph# is 888 828 3276. When I put them on, I realized that they were longer than the old ones already on it. So I cut them to length, and took vice grips to put the correct bend in them

I havnt used the rake yet, as im looking for the last bow in the reel. Also I moved, But ive got hay to cut this year, so I hope to use it soon.

The reason the new ones were longer was because the old ones were worn. Never seemed to hurt on our wheel take if there was a mix of worn and new teeth near each other. It would be an issue if you didn't replace a busted one though. That would make the wheel bounce hard and break more teeth.

That is what I was going to say, his old ones are wore out. Common for a tooth to be wore down an inch or more.

To all the people that said names of places to try, thanks but it will do no good as the factory that those places buy then from for reselling them no longer makes the teeth so those stores unless they have some old stalk inventory stored back will not have them. The McCormick No. 5 rake I need teeth for was made 1958 to 1965? and the tooth was unique to it, The rake was the last 4 wheel McCormick made and very few then. In my 73 years on this farm I have seen 4 of them and I have had 3 of them. The teeth for the older steel wheel 3 bar rake-tedder from mid 20's to 1960 and the 3 bar enclosed gear 1939-1956? and the 4 bar enclosed gear 1940-1958? are readily avaible as there were thousands of them made with still thousands still in use. The Massey Harris steel wheel rake uses the same tooth. Just expencive. The Moline teeth were for the steel wheel models that were very few ever made and would have been from the 30's to 50's. And on these if there were any setting in a junk row would be the only way to get then along with the clips that hold the teeth on as if there is a tooth there the clip-clamp is there yet as well and I need them as well. I figured the teeth would be avaible yet but no. I can substitute New Idea teeth used from 1934 to 58? and are readily avaible and would cost me $2.25 each but I do not have those clips-clamps that I would need, a local dealer that has the new teeth in stock for the New Idea has a few of those clamps for $2.00 each but not the 60 that I need. New aftermarket are avaible but the dealer says they are not quite correct in fit and are $3.00 each so was hoping some one with junked out No. 4, No44 steel wheel or No, 45 or 47 New Idea 4 wheel on low rubber would have some for to be avaible. A few years back I got a bunch of the McCormick for the older rakes from Old with the clips and they are all I think used now. At that time Messicks had those clips-clamps listed on their web site avaible new but they were and this is not a typo but $35 each. Who can aford that? I work with an Amish machenry jocky locating and buying machinery af different kinds for him to resell to the local Amish comunity. I also rebuild some of it and they do some of the rebuilding. I have now setting here for rebuilding 4 New Idea rakes, 2 John Deere rakes, this Moline rake and just delt for and gave to pickup a McCormick and a Deere and will see today if I was able to get a second Moline rake. I do have 2 Oliver Superior grain drills setting here for rebuilding. Plus other machinery. All of it dates mostly from the 40's and new parts almost impossible to find if you could afford them. I am always looking for Mostly New Idea with McCormick second with John Deere rakes third. Have a different Amish Jocky that would like me to find that I cant New Idea No. 8 or No. 10 steel wheel 4 wheel manure spreaders That are within hauling distance of my home at Wapakoneta, Ohio and the Amish comunity I work with is in eastern Indiana. So about all that is out there is fence row finds that are scarce. The spreaders have new parts avaible.

They might work IF I could find 64 holders along with 128 teeth that a 4 bar rake uses. 3 bat are 48 teeth to 4 bar being 64 teeth.

Should have added that as these rakes are for sale by a dealer I cannot have a mixed assortment of teeth as buyers would not like that. And the average selling price for like the New Idea No 4 rake is $800. The one New Idea that I just got that needs work and I paid $25 for needs at least 15 teeth and possibly a couple of the clamps to hold them on so at new prices that adds up to where nothing left for labor.

Hello, I have a number of teeth and keepers for GL-100 rake and three bar side rake and tedder:
I can send you a sample of:

This is the bent type, does not work for tedder.

Leroy,

I can bring a box of new rake teeth for the McCormick/IH #5 rake to the Portland, IN swap meet next week. I have a few of the older IH rake teeth that had the R_____ part numbers, too. I also have single-prong rake teeth for JD and NI, and double-prong NH haybine and NH baler teeth for the non-super sweep style, and double rubber-mounts for Vemeer and MF round balers.

Let me know if you're interested.

Possibl, let me know what you are asking for the McCormick teeth both types. Opened my email. The JD and NI teeth that I need are both the double tooth. New Idea did not use a single tooth till way later than these rakes are and Deere did not use a single also untill later models unless you go back to the Deere-Dain rake that had a wood bar to hold teeth in place. All the rakes I am working with have the 45 degree angle real instead of the sideways action parallel bar rakes.

Leroy,

I checked a couple of times and didn't find your email to be open.

Check photo ads here at YT under parts, ad #'s 643400 and 643401. I'll need to know by Monday before Noon if you would want these at Portland.

I think I have just a few of the older R15080 double teeth. I could bring them as well.

My ansewr to your orignal post on classic says on the bottom right side sais Reply or send email, click on where it says sent email and I will get it. I actully hardly understand modern view to use it, I think I found a place on that for your email address and sent you an email, It will come saying from YT and it did not come back as undelieverable. I had my entire postal mail address as well as my email address in it. But for you on classic it says you have no email. I am interested in both types of McCormick teeth. The Deere rakes I am working on require a double tooth tho. My email is [email protected] and I do have a land line phone but it is a captioning phone that will print out on the screen what you say but you have to speek slow, clear and loud or it makes to many mistakes. For that you have to use all these numbers 1-877-243-2823 to get the captioning service and then dial my home number 1-419-738-6053. A total if I counted corectly 22 numbers. I plan on being at portland all 3 days and driving a Wheel Horse 518-H as I just cannot stand all the waling anymore. Lester (Leroy) Helmlinger, 10622 Ashburn Rd., Wapakoneta, Oh. If we do make it to get together I will give you my cell number to find each other but it is only carried mostly for emergencies as it is not loud enough for me to actuall hear what is being said unless you talk very loud and plain.
