I have a Kuhn 700 and I use it with a John Deere 6105. I am not sure whether the steel plates on the lift links should allow or not for floating.

Thank you,
Paul

I am not sure I understand your question, but since no one else has, I will take a stab at it. Your three point mower takes care of the floating all by itself. You will just lower it to the working height, so that the arm between the header and the hitch is level, then the mower rides up and down on its own. You want to be sure that you have your top link adjusted so that the header leans forward just a little, or more if you want to cut closer.

You don't want the frame to float or each time you lift it the frame will lean over.
Keep the mower frame level with the tractor and let the bar float over the ground.
I set the stabilizers to keep the mower centered behind the tractor, the Kuhn 600 we use has a adjustable chain that connects in a top link hole to set the ride height of the frame when mowing.

Personally I prefer a trailed mower.

Thank you for your reply. I was asking about the position of the plates 18: should they allow free float or not?

Thank you,
Paul

Sorry I don't have a book here that will show me what plate 18 is, if it's the thick flat plate near the cutter bar pivot, it needs to be locked.

No pics coming through.....

Does your mower have some chain links and a plate on the ends that tie into the top link pin? Thry hold the weight of the mower and keep it from dragging on the ground. The bar itself floats on its own from there?

I tried attaching both png and jpg files. Let me try again.

I will go to take pictures of the cutter attached to the tractor. I knew something does not look right... for 8 years now.

Attached please find the picture of the lift link (which allows displacement in the vertical direction) and my Kuhn cutter with the chain.

Thank you,
Paul

It is my bad - I did not notice the images were not loaded. I did load them now.

I appreciate your help with this!

OK, on the tractor you need to turn the plates 1/4 turn so the the lift arms don't float. This will keep the mower frame from floating with the lift arms.
There should be a steel plate that goes on the top link pin with a hole in it for the chain to pass through and hook back to itself, this sets the mower frame ride height when it's lowered to the mowing position.

Thank you - I will look into the Kuhn's parts manual to see the plate you mentioned since I do not have one (I bought the cutter
second-hand).

Thank you again,
Paul
