NH 461 haybine lift cylinder problem

Having problem with my hydraulic cylinder leaking. Has anyone put new seal kit in one and how difficult is it? I am mechanically inclined but I don't have a parts catalog. Does anyone know a part number for the kit?

Thanks for any assistance

Your cylinder could be almost any brand. Does it have tag on it? I took a ??? Brand to my NH dealer and the changed the seals. Have a few actuall JD cylinders so I order the parts and change the seals myself. Not hard t all

On most of those machines the hyd cylinder is just a common size cylinder and costs around $70-100 for a new one at TSC or other such places. Ya they can be rebuilt if you can find the correct size seals etc

If it"s a generic cyl with four long bolts holding it together, it"s very simple to repair. Others can also be rebuilt. Any hyd shop can provide correct seals or do the repair. As long as the rod is straight, there"s no reason to scrap it and buy new.

My 461 had a John Deere cylinder with a bent rod on it when I got it, and leaked. I bought a 2.5x8" cylinder at Tractor Supply and it has been fine for the last 7 years. Surplus Center is another good source, lower price but the shipping may eat up the savings on something that heavy.
