front mounted cultivator for 8N Ford tractor

I have a front mount 2 row cultivator that fits on a 8N Ford tractor. I think it was sold by Sears and Robuck in the early 5o's. The model number is 386 500. It has a metal plate that reads "In all correspondence regarding this article always mention model number. Order replacements by mail or through any of our retail stores. Sears Robuck, USA." It bolts to the front axle and lifts using a rod that runs from the cultivator to the three point lift on the back. Does any one have any further knowledge or information about this cultivator? This is the only one I have ever seen and can't find any one who knows of it.

That seems to ring a bell with me. I never saw one,but I think I remember Dad saying that they were one of the most miserable excuses for a piece of equipment that he ever had to put on a tractor.

They were in the Sears farm catalog for years, I have the catalogs but not sure where they are now. Would fit the 9N, 2N, 8N, NAA, TE20, TO20, TO30, TO35 but built after the cultivator sales ended same as the 600 and 800 Fords, even the 4 cylinder 2000 & 4000, the MF 135 and the Oliver 55.

How different we worked back when.

Dad farmed with a IHC 300, three point (adapted to the fast hitch) 4 row planter, front mount 4 row cultivator, and would use it for baling as well.

Back when we planted beans so late, first cut of hay was going on too, so dad was switching from planter (for beans) and cultivator (for corn) and the baler (right wheel had to be noved in) the first week or so of June. Sometimes spent more time converting than doing a job....

None of that was simple easy connections, even the hydraulics were screw together not quick connect.

Guess that's what us kids were for.....
