Grain bin floor

I have a couple of question about a grain bin floor
I plan to put up a 18' diameter bin this summer
When I bought the bin the floor was rotten so we didn't salvage any of it
I have seen some pics online where the whole floor is not aerated
Some floors have a X ariation chanel in them with the remaining floor being cement and some have a square section in the middle for ariation with the rest being cement
Will either of these methods work as well as a full floor ariation
And by that I mean keeping my grain dry through the winter and summer as we use it or will that concrete draw to much moisture
Thanks for any advice

I have done it both ways- grain on concrete, and full aeration floors, here in a damp climate. I always got a little spoilage right around the perimeter, where the bin met the concrete. Very little lost volume over all though. I now have full aeration floors in all bins just because I can.

No. Not as good.

Yes. Will lose some.

I wish I could find a floor for my little 15 foot bin, hard to pay new for such a small old thing, but currently on a flat foundation I lose a little.

I with bob I would do full floor, I have a 24 foot bin and only have a spot or two that I watch. the other thing is make sure fan is sized up when bin is full to get good air flow in the grain.

go with the full floor. Those single ducts or x/y patterns just don"t reach far enough. Full floor, air can go up anywhere. I have 3 with full floor, sold a small 3200 bu with the straight channel- used it only for beans but occasionally got some spoilage. Make sure the floor is high enough to maybe install an 8 inch unload in the future. Need 13-14 inches clearance. Big difference in unload speed.
