Cole Duplex Planter

Hello. I've been using a Cole single hopper planter for many years. But the frame has broken/rusted in to. Somehow over the years I've acquired 2 duplex planters. At first I was going to take the single hopper off and put on one of the other frames. But I quickly realized that the shaft on the duplex frames turn in the opposite direction so my single hopper would be turning backwards and wouldn't work so well. So then I decided I would just use one of the duplex hoppers and just get a few of the smaller plates if I needed to. But I'm wondering do I have to get plates for both sides? I was hoping that I could get one plate for sweet corn and leave it in one side. Then get other plates for the other side for beans and peas. Is this possible? Also regardless of what I can and can't do. how do you set these up? When I read the chart for example a 12 cell plate is that 12 cells on each side or would that be 24 cell? Do you add all cells to get the total cell count? Thanks, I know I'll get an answer here.

First off you'll need the left and right hand plates, they're good for planting something like pole beans or pumpkins in corn.Or you can just put seed in one side at the time.I have 2 of those planters mounted on a tool bar works pretty good.

Thanks. So if I use just one side I should read the chart just as I would a single hopper set up? Does anyone know where I could find a manual for the duplex hopper. I haven't had any luck finding one online.
