JD 467 baler

I have a JD 467 baler and seem to have a small problem. Even though the monitor says that both ends are the same, it?s not. Standing behind the baler, the left end comes out larger. Would this be a monitor or sensor problem. Where do I need to look first? This baler is shed-ed, I blow it out when finish with the baling, not wash it out, keep the chains oiled, the belts are in good shape, I evens changed out the keepers (pins) that hold the belt together.

I hope it?s not the operated (me), in other word, I take care of it and it?s in very good shape other wise. Also, I don?t cut and bale that much (35 acres), just a hobby mostly.

The bale shape sensors(key 12) on each side at the rear are adjustable. To access mounting bolt one must remove cover(key 9). The sensors are a little difficult to get exactly correct so on my baler I just mentally compensate. Belt length variation can cause sensors to be off. IIRC one can set the sensors by sound if monitor is on correct channel.

Also baler operator's driving habits affect bale shape as most operators I been around me included tend to crowd one side of the windrow more than the other side.

By mentally compensate I inspect bale shape bars on monitor with pto running, gate closed. If bars are higher on one side I just have the same number of bars higher on that side when bale is completed. Another thing you could do is check/change the bars reaction time. I can't remember the channel # but it's discussed in the operators manual under "channels".

You need to adjust the bale shape sensors. The belt get longer and the sensors have to be adjusted to be correct. I have a setting gauge you loop over the roller and hook on the frame it sets dead zero but if your belts are different then you need to adjust to them.
