Tail Wheel Adjustment on Oliver 4340 trailer plow

Having some difficulty getting enough clearance between the tail wheel tire and its casting on a 3 bottom Oliver 4340 trailer plow. I plowed about 7 acres the other night with the plow and my JD 60 and it did a good job but when I finished I discovered the tail wheel tire was flat. The current tire is a 7.00 X 16 which I think is probably thicker than what would have been on the plow from the factory. The plow also trailed well in the field but wobbled excessively in 5th gear on the road. What adjustments/repairs might I make to obtain more clearance between the tire and the casting? Could I simply flip the dish on the tail wheel? Thanks for the help.

Sincerely,

Not familuar with that plow. About all plows will have that problem on the road, some had a built in lock, some there was a way that you could clamp a vice grip on a rod to stop that, some no way to stop, carrying so just clears the road at times helps. Now on the tail wheel it needs to be correct size or it will keep crouding tle plow away from the furrow wall and reversing the wheel will make it worse. I am thinking that your plow should have a 15" not 16" wheel and only a 6:70 X 15" tire. All the plows that I have seen with other than a 12" wheel had that 15" or else dome a 7:50x14" tire like the MF that I had. I think before you got that plow somebody had the tire go bad and just grabed any tire they had laying around that wood bolt on to the hub without thinking of consequences of putting on a larger tire. Then the dish of the rim has to be correct as well for side clearance on both frame side and furrow wall side.
