The No. 5 sickle mowers were <a href="https://youtu.be/zytzhAxRVsY">made from 1936 through 1956</a>.

That information was based on the dates of the published operator's manuals.

Reviewed the [b:654c4848f0]JOHN DEERE Parts Catalog NO. 5 CASTER WHEEL POWER MOWER PC466[/b:654c4848f0] published in October 1956 and founds parts listed for 1934 through 1957.

Based on this information, the mower was manufactured from 1934 through 1957.

The mower was first referred to as the [b:654c4848f0]John Deere No. 5 Power Mower[/b:654c4848f0] in February 1939.

Again Thank You . Do you know if the John Deere #8 mower came after the #5 or both where produce for a while at the same time. I guess my question is what was the time the #8 built ?

The No. 8 mower followed the No. 5 mower.

Only information found was an <a href="http://www.external_link.com/p-1100-deere-8-8w-caster-wheel-sickle-mower-operators-manual-omh711159.aspx">operator's manual published November 1959</a>.

Pure speculation on my part, but the No. 8 was probable made from 1958 until the early 1960s.

The No. 8 mower also shared a lot of the same parts as the No. 5.

The major difference is that <a href="https://youtu.be/Vjnt53dyO7E">the No. 8 mower is a belt driven mower</a>.

The No. 8 mower was followed by the 38 mower, but could not find any publishing month or year on the operator's manual.
