ih mcormick 2 row corn planter question

hey i have a ih mcormick 2 row planter..im not sure on what model it is as its rusty..im guessing its close to a 249.reason im needing to know is i wanna make sure its set for 24 cell..should i get u all pictures of it?also maybe somebody could explain how i check weather its set up for 16 cell or 24.im using it to plant sweetcorn

During the period when 2 row planters were the norm, most corn populations were pretty low and the 16 cell plate was used. But there is a possibility that someone switched that planter to 24 cell as populations climbed higher.

You really need an operator's manual so you can study the driven sprocket and the driver sprocket settings to determine whether it is set for 16 or 24 cells.

Without that info, and if I had to bet on it, I would bet 16 cell.
